I’m Welsh landscape artist Chris Richards. I live and work in the village of Ystradgynlais in the beautiful upper Swansea Valley, South Wales. I produce artwork across a range of media including oils, acrylics, watercolour, pen, and soft pastels.

I create art inspired by scenes from all across Wales, from the vast natural beauty of epic skies and sweeping vistas of the Welsh landscape, to more subtle scenes of woodlands, rivers, and waterfalls.
I want viewers of my work to experience not only the awe and wonder but also the sense of peace and tranquility I’ve felt at being present in the scenes I paint. I hope my paintings convey the magic of Wales and inspire others to take time out and explore for themselves.
“The landscape affects the human psyche – the soul, the body and the innermost contemplations – like music. Every time you feel nature deeper you resonate better with her, finding new elements of balance and freedom.”

Journal
My journal is where I share my thoughts on art, my process, and new paintings. I also discuss art in general, particularly the creative struggle as an artist.
As an emerging artist, there are plenty of things to learn and I share my successes and failures here.
