Neath Valley Cottage

sketchbook showing an ink drawing of a cottage somewhere in Neath Valley

Day four’s pen sketch is another randomer’s house. I do have a habit of photographing houses that catch my eye. Now I have no idea where this actually is aside from the fact I took it while doing a circuit of the waterfalls in Neath Valley. So, with that lack of precise location, I’ve come up with the unimaginative and vague title Neath Valley Cottage.

This was a lot of fun to do. I do love rendering interesting stonework. Again, I feel my technique needs improvement. I default into starting off by drawing too precise and then when I realise I’m running out of time, I become a lot looser at which point I feel the piece loses consistency. I think as the house and grounds were so neat, it would benefit from a more time-consuming, precise rendering. One to revisit one day maybe?
