A colour sketch in preparation for the final painting.
The inspiration for this sunrise painting came from a winter, pre-dawn excursion to Llansteffan beach. Trudging across the beach in the dark, carrying my tripod and camera gear with only a head-torch to light my way. I set up at my intended viewpoint and waited for sunrise. A few cups of black coffee from my Thermos made the morning chill bearable until the sun rose, treating me to a gorgeous display of colour looking out over Carmarthen Bay to the Gower.
